Visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

If you’re looking for a truly unique and beautiful place to visit in Maine, be sure to add Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to your list! This stunning garden is located near the coast of Boothbay Harbor and features over 300 acres of gardens, woodlands, and coastline.

The gardens are a great place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you’re admiring the flowers, enjoying the fresh air, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature, spending an afternoon in the garden is sure to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.

The Gardens are  beautiful in all seasons, but we were fortunate to visit in early October when we had the beautiful space entirely to ourselves.

History of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens was created in 2007, but the gardens and woodlands have been carefully cultivated over many years. A group of residents and garden lovers decided they wanted to build a spectacular garden on 148 acres of forested land. They started in 1991 with 148 acres and worked to create this lovely garden.

Since then, The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens has become one of Maine’s top attractions.

The results are stunning – everywhere you look, there is something beautiful to see. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are up there with my favorite Botanical Gardens of all time. This place is a must see if you are visiting Acadia or a great site to stop on a road trip.

There are several different gardens to explore, each with its own unique character.

Theses include:

The Garden of the 5 Senses – this garden allows your to use all of your senses in exploring the garden. The kids loved the olfactory garden and smelled everything!

The first garden we visited was the Arbor Garden, which was full of beautiful blooms even in early October!

But my favorite part of the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden was definitely Slater Forest Pond. These gardens are located in the center of the gardens and have stunning views everywhere you look.

The Children’s Garden was so much fun! Even my older kids were enchanted and loved running ahead to find something new. You could spend an hour or more just in the Children’s Garden no matter your age.

If you’re looking for a place to relax, escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and connect with nature, I highly recommend visiting the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden. It is a beautiful way to get outdoors with your family and learn something new about nature. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget!
