Looking for the best boogie boards for kids?
Boogie Boards also known as Body Boards, are a beach essential in our house! They make it easy to go body surfing and ride some big and little waves alike. We have purchased our share of boards over the years and finally found one that has lasted and lasted. (Read on to see which one.)
There are many factors that go into choosing which board is right for you or your child. The type of board (soft top vs hard top), size, weight limit, price range, and more will help you find the perfect one! What size of Boogie Board do I need?
Most Boogie Boards have a range of sizes to fit both kids and adults. It’s critical to double-check before purchasing as you want your child to be able to handle the board in the water successfully.
- For kids 40-65 lbs a 33″ board is recommended (a 31-inch board would work if they are short for their age.)
- For kids 65-85 lbs a 36-39” board is best.
- For kids who weigh more you can move in to a 39-41” board.
Do I want a soft top or a hard top board?
-The Soft Top Board – This is a beginner’s board that has soft foam on top so it won’t hurt when falling off while learning how to use it. It’s also light weight and easy to carry around making it perfect as a travel companion too!
The Hard Top Board – This boogie board is the same as the soft top, but it has been molded to be more sturdy and harder which gives you a pretty smooth ride. The hard top is also good for practicing jumps into the sea with since it won’t hurt your feet!
With smaller kids you will want a soft top board. They will make the whole experience more pleasant. A hard top board is good for a transition to surfing and can be difficult to use.
