Places to stay near Acadia National Park

Where to stay near Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks. It is situated along the Atlantic Coast in Maine and is famous for being in the top 10 most visited national parks in the United States.

Acadia National Park can be done in one day but there is so much to see and do you will want to stay 3-4 days. If you are staying for more than one day then you will need to find a great place to stay the night. Here are the highest rated hotels, campsite and some hidden gems near Acadia National Park.

The best hotels in Bar Harbor

If you want to maximize your time in Acadia you will want to stay in nearby Bar Harbor. That will allow you to be in the park in 10 minutes.

I have found very little price difference in hotels in Bar Harbor, each one seems to be about the same price as the next!

Here are my favorite spots to stay in Bar Harbor:

Bar Harbor Grand Hotel

I love how charming the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel is! It is a beautiful turn of the century hotel that has been meticulously updated on the interior. You will enjoy the high ceilings and comfortable rooms. It is also very easy to get to downtown and the shops.  Plus it is only 4 miles from Sand Beach!

The Inn on Mount Desert Island

This inn is so comfortable and has the most beautiful garden. It includes breakfast on their patio overlooking Acadia and has large rooms for families. Plus each room features a microwave and a refrigerator so it is easy to keep snack for the kids.

If you are looking for the charm of a bed and breakfast with the amenities of a hotel this would be a great place for you to book!

Bar Harbor Inn and Spa

If you want a hotel on the water the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa might be for you. This sprawling inn is so close that you can hear the waves! Most rooms have a balcony with chairs for you to enjoy the view. The dining rooms (both indoor and outdoor) have unobstructed views of the ocean as well and the food is very well rated.

Acadia Inn

This inn is conveniently. located only 1 mile away from Acadia National Park. The rooms are nice and clean  and roomy. There is an outdoor pool and a hot tub, plus complimentary breakfast in an open and airy dining room.

This is a great place to stay with kids. They will love the pool and you can check out board games to play with the family.

Most picturesque places to stay in Acadia National Park

If you taste runs to more rugged accommodations you might want to camp in the park instead.  You couldn’t find a more beautiful view in any hotel in the area!

Most picturesque camp grounds in Acadia:

Mount Desert Island campground

Bar Harbor campground

Camping in a yurt near Bass Harbor lighthouse

Echo Lake campground

Best time to visit Acadia National Park

Acadia is beautiful any time of year but the busiest time of year is the last week of September through the first week of October. Fall foliage time.

Prices for hotels will be higher in the fall and summer, so if you are looking for inexpensive hotels and campsites you may want to go in the spring.

No matter where you choose to stay in Acadia you are sure to find so much natural beauty and clean fresh air. I hope you will check out our post about visiting Acadia before you go.
